Rais Aam of the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU), Miftachul Ahyar; Social Minister and PBNU General Secretary, Saifullah Yusuf (Gus Ipul); and East Java Governor, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, attended the inauguration of the KH Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus Dur) Building at Muslimat Ponorogo General Hospital (RSU). The inauguration, combined with the celebration of the 40th anniversary of RSU Muslimat Ponorogo, was also attended by other figures such as former Education Minister, Prof. Muhammad Nuh; Minister for Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA), Arifatul Choiri Fauzi; and Acting Regent of Ponorogo, Lisdyarita. Gus Ipul arrived at the site at 10:35 WIB, greeted by hadrah performances, followed by the distribution of aid to orphaned children. Symbolically, the Rais Aam, Gus Ipul, Khofifah, and other relevant stakeholders pressed a button to mark the official opening of the Gus Dur Building. Afterwards, Gus Ipul and the entourage inspected the inpatient rooms on the fifth floor, starting from class 1 rooms, VIP rooms, and VVIP rooms. “These rooms are good, comfortable for patients,” said Gus Ipul, in a written statement on Sunday (29/3/2026). Meanwhile, East Java Governor, who is also the Chair of the Muslimat NU Central Board Advisory Council, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, stated that the construction of the Gus Dur Building is the result of collaboration and cooperation from various parties. “It turns out that these efforts, if we build synergy and collaboration, God willing, can succeed,” said Khofifah. Furthermore, she explained that the Gus Dur Building at RSU Muslimat Ponorogo will strengthen healthcare services in Ponorogo Regency, making it a centre for healthcare, especially for mothers and children. “Ponorogo was previously known for infertility services; infertility refers to those who have difficulty in the pregnancy process, whether due to men or women. Ponorogo has become the epicentre for providing infertility services,” she added. Based on gathered information, the naming of the KH Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus Dur) Building is steeped in history. When RSU Muslimat was still a Mother and Child Health Centre (BKIA) in 1986, its inauguration was conducted by Gus Dur as PBNU Chairman.
