PBNU Designates Tambakberas Jombang as Host for 35th NU Congress
The Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU) has officially designated Pondok Pesantren Tambakberas in Jombang, East Java, as the location for the 35th Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Congress. The decision was announced directly by Rais Aam PBNU, KH Miftachul Akhyar.
“The place that has been decided and agreed upon is Tambakberas Jombang,” said Kiai Miftach after the Joint Daily Syuriyah-Tanfidziyah Meeting at the PBNU Office in Jakarta on Tuesday (7/7/2026) evening.
In addition to setting the location, PBNU also decided to postpone the congress schedule. The highest consultative forum of NU was originally scheduled to take place from 1-5 August 2026, but will now be held from 27-31 August 2026.
The schedule change was made to provide additional time for the regional committee to complete various infrastructure needs ahead of the congress.
“Earlier, Kiai Hasib (Caretaker of Tambakberas Islamic Boarding School) made many promises to fulfil the infrastructure that has not been properly completed. We have postponed the time until 27 to 31 August,” he said.
He expressed hope that the additional time could be utilised optimally so that preparations proceed smoothly without burdening PBNU.
