PBNU Deputy Secretary General: Decrees for Qualified PWNU and PCNU Branches Have Already Been Signed
In fact, many SKs for PWNU and PCNU that meet the requirements have already been signed. Therefore, it is untrue to claim that the Secretary General is obstructing the signing of SKs,” said Gus Imron in a written statement on Monday (4/5/2026). According to him, the statement previously made by PBNU General Deputy Chairman Amin Said Husni was inaccurate and potentially misleading. He explained that the Secretary General’s stance actually reflects caution in maintaining organisational discipline. The refusal to sign is only applied to SKs deemed not to meet the provisions, whether in terms of administration, procedures, or the composition of the management. “The Secretary General certainly cannot sign arbitrarily. If there are SKs that do not meet the requirements, with unclear names, or processes that do not comply with the provisions, it is reasonable for them to be reviewed and mitigated first. That is not obstruction, but fulfilling organisational responsibilities,” he stated. Gus Imron assessed that the main issue in the SK issuance process actually occurs before the files reach the Secretary General’s desk. He mentioned that these obstacles lie in the Organisasi, Kaderisasi, dan Keanggotaan (OKK) division. According to him, there are problems with the placement of secretariat staff in OKK who are deemed not credible, thus potentially disrupting administrative discipline. “The problem is actually in OKK. There are secretariat staff placed there, but they are not credible. As a result, the administrative process becomes undisciplined and vulnerable to exploitation for certain interests,” he said. He also highlighted changes in several SKs from the initial proposals. It was even mentioned that there are names suspected of being inserted without clear mechanisms. “Many SKs suddenly change. There are smuggled-in names. The question is, who changed them? Who inserted them? This is what needs to be explained, not accusing the Secretary General of obstructing,” he emphasised. In addition, Gus Imron revealed other irregularities in the administrative process. He mentioned that there are SKs that are actually unproblematic but do not enter the Digdaya system. “Strangely, there are unproblematic SKs that do not enter Digdaya. Lamongan, for example, is already clear; we know all about Lamongan. Meanwhile, problematic ones can enter, but Lamongan cannot. This shows there is a serious problem in the administrative chain before reaching the Secretary General,” he said. Gus Imron also urged that no party build an opinion that corners the PBNU Secretary General. He emphasised the importance of providing a complete explanation to the public, especially Nahdlatul Ulama members. “Do not reverse it as if the Secretary General is the one obstructing. The Secretary General is actually safeguarding so that the SKs issued are truly valid, disciplined, and in accordance with organisational rules,” he stressed. He added that PBNU needs to uphold the organisation’s dignity by ensuring all administrative processes run transparently, accountably, and in accordance with the provisions. “SKs are important organisational documents. They must not be used as tools for interest games. If there are sponsored names or changes without valid mechanisms, they must be cleaned up,” he concluded.
