PBNU deploys over 100 CCTV cameras to secure 35th NU Congress

Jombang (ANTARA) - The Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU) is using information technology to oversee the 35th NU Congress at the Bahrul Ulum Tambakberas Islamic Boarding School in Jombang Regency, East Java, by installing more than 100 closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras.
The use of this technology is integrated with a command centre that monitors various activities across the congress arena, from conference venues, towers, accommodation and catering to a number of roads around the event site.
“This is something new in the organisation of a congress. We can see everything that happens in the main arena, from the conference venues, towers, accommodation, catering and the roads,” said Chairman of the 35th NU Congress Committee Saifullah Yusuf in Jombang on Tuesday.
He added that, in addition to monitoring the situation, the system is also equipped with reporting and follow-up mechanisms so that every incident can be promptly handled by designated officers.
“All of this is to make the congress more transparent, controlled and using measurable mechanisms. Hopefully, with this command centre, services will become easier, problems can be resolved quickly and solutions can be found immediately,” he said.
He also said that congress preparations are now focused on improving services for participants. Facilities and infrastructure are now almost entirely complete and the committee has begun conducting service simulations.
“Preparations, especially those concerning services for participants. Facilities and infrastructure are almost all complete. We are now refining services and have begun simulations,” said Gus Ipul, as he is affectionately known.
Regarding the plan for President Prabowo Subianto to open the congress, Gus Ipul said he has formally invited the President and is coordinating with the Palace protocol. The committee hopes the agenda can proceed as planned.
The 35th NU Congress is scheduled to take place on 27-31 August 2026 at the Bahrul Ulum Tambakberas Islamic Boarding School in Jombang, with the main agenda of discussing various organisational issues and the future direction of NU.
