The Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU) has stated that the 2026 NU Congress will be held on 1-5 August 2026, with the location still to be decided following the National Conference and Grand Conference (Konbes) of NU at the Al Falah Islamic Boarding School in Kediri. “The National Conference and Konbes are part of a series leading to the Congress, which, God willing, will be held on 1-5 August 2026. The location has been discussed, with several proposals including West Nusa Tenggara, East Java, West Java, and of course West Sumatra,” said M Nuh, Secretary of the Steering Committee for the 2026 NU National Conference and Konbes, in Kediri, East Java, on Monday. He explained that a special meeting will still be held to determine the congress location. A team will assess and review the proposed sites, examining aspects of feasibility including infrastructure, security, financial viability, and spiritual suitability. “Including this venue, during the National Conference-Konbes we visited several places, assessed their physical feasibility, and finally considered their spiritual suitability. It was from that spiritual feasibility that the venue for the National Conference-Konbes here was decided. Using the same method, the congress location will also be announced later,” M Nuh added. He emphasised that the congress theme will essentially be the same: safeguarding the dignity of NU and enriching service to the nation’s society. Meanwhile, the closing ceremony for the 2026 NU National Conference and Konbes will be held in Bangkalan on Tuesday, 23 June. The event is scheduled to be attended by President Prabowo Subianto. “The closing has been confirmed. God willing, the President will be pleased to attend, at 2 p.m. WIB. But we will begin with a series of activities, starting with a pilgrimage to the maqbarah (tomb), followed by istighasah, and then at 2 p.m. WIB, God willing, together with the President,” said M Nuh. At the 2026 NU Congress, he continued, PBNU wishes to remind everyone that NU’s history is inseparable from the struggle of ulama, including Sheikh Hasyim Asy’ari and Syaikhona Muhammad Kholil Bangkalan. PBNU is holding the 2026 National Conference of Alim Ulama and NU Grand Conference at the Al Falah Islamic Boarding School in Ploso Village, Mojo District, Kediri Regency, from 20-22 June 2026.
