PBNU Accountability Report for Gus Yahya's Leadership Officially Accepted at NU Congress

The accountability report of the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board for the 2021-2026 period, nearly 1,000 pages thick, was officially accepted in the plenary session of the 35th NU Congress at Bahrul Ulum Islamic Boarding School, Tambakberas, Jombang, on Friday (28/8).

General Chairman of PBNU 2021-2026 KH Yahya Cholil Staquf, known as Gus Yahya, welcomed the decision. He said most of the targets mandated by the 34th Congress in Lampung, as well as organisational management reforms at the regional and branch levels, had been achieved.

“Alhamdulillah, the accountability report of PBNU for the 2021-2026 term has been well received by all Regional Boards throughout Indonesia,” said Gus Yahya on Friday evening.

Gus Yahya assessed that this acceptance was the result of the collective hard work of the entire PBNU leadership for 2021-2026.

“This achievement is not merely the fulfilment of an organisational obligation, but rather a reflection of the togetherness, trust, and sincerity that we have nurtured throughout the past five years,” he said.

“From the bottom of my heart, I extend my deepest gratitude to all PBNU administrators, the regional, branch, and special branch boards, down to the cadres at the grassroots. Thank you for your steadfastness, the guidance of the senior clerics, and the tireless hard work in safeguarding the honour and welfare of the organisation. May all this effort and dedication be recorded as blessed deeds by Allah Subhanahu wa ta’ala,” Gus Yahya continued.

Secretary General of PBNU, who is also Chairman of the Organising Committee of the 35th NU Congress, Saifullah Yusuf, known as Gus Ipul, confirmed that the next stage is commission discussions, including on changes to organisational rules and the election mechanism for the PBNU General Chairman.

“It has been accepted, Alhamdulillah it is done. The accountability report is done, the general views are done. So the report has been well received. So this is finished. Now we move to the commissions,” said Gus Ipul.

Meanwhile, Rais Syuriyah of PBNU and Secretary of the Steering Committee of the 35th NU Congress, Professor Mohammad Nuh, said the process of accepting the accountability report in the plenary session went smoothly without significant debate. The committee took a sample of views from a dozen participants and all gave their approval.

“Secondly, the accountability report. It could be rejected, or it could be accepted, right? But Alhamdulillah, from the 11 samples we took, all accepted it well,” said M Nuh.

M Nuh stressed that the sampling results were sufficient to ratify the report from Gus Yahya’s leadership.

“Therefore, we conclude that the other regional boards also accepted it well. It is done,” he said.
