Sorong (ANTARA) - The Southwest Papua Provincial Government (Pemprov PBD) is prioritising an approach of education and dialogue in addressing the dynamics of social conflicts in several regions, particularly in Tambrauw and Maybrat Regencies, by involving all stakeholders collaboratively.

Southwest Papua Governor Elisa Kambu in Sorong on Sunday reaffirmed that persuasive and humane approaches are the primary priority of the regional government in maintaining societal stability and security.

She explained that the regional government continues to encourage the active role of regency-level local leaders, including regents and their apparatus, to directly engage in building communication with the community.

According to her, this approach is carried out through socialisation, education, and efforts to build community awareness to maintain a conducive situation and avoid being easily provoked.

Pemprov PBD also continues to pay attention to affected communities by distributing aid according to the region’s capabilities, as a form of the government’s presence among the people.

“Besides the persuasive approach, we are also providing assistance to communities in need. This is part of the government’s efforts to ensure that the community continues to feel cared for,” she said.

In the near future, she plans to visit several conflict-affected areas to ensure that the dialogic and educational approach runs optimally, while strengthening coordination with regency governments.

She assured that through the humane approach, public security and order can be continuously maintained, and a conducive atmosphere for regional development can be created.
