Paying Respects at the Funeral Home, Trade Minister Remembers BPK Member Haerul Saleh as a Good Person

The late individual was a good friend, with a mindset inclined to help, in times of hardship and sorrow; the deceased was truly a good person. A good person who liked to help, so we all feel the loss with the passing of Mr Haerul Saleh,” said Ferry at the funeral home in the Kebayoran Lama area, South Jakarta, on Friday (8/5/2026).

Ferry expressed his grief over Haerul Saleh’s passing. He said Haerul Saleh was a good person.

“We share in the sorrow over the death of a friend because we are from the same party and I was good friends with the deceased, and I testify that Mr Haerul Saleh was a good person,” he said.

Ferry prayed that Haerul Saleh would be accepted at the side of Allah SWT. He hoped that the family left behind would be granted patience.

“May his deeds and worship during his life be rewarded in the best way by Allah SWT, and may all his mistakes and oversights be forgiven, and may the family he leaves behind be granted patience,” he said.

Haerul Saleh passed away in a house fire incident in Tanjung Barat, Jagakarsa. The fire was noticed by residents who saw smoke billowing from the roof of the house.

“Based on information from the local RT, black smoke was seen billowing from the third floor of the burning house,” said the Head of Fire and Rescue Prevention (Gulkarmat) of South Jakarta, Asril Rizal, on Friday (8/5).

The fire was reported by residents at 07:53 WIB. The burning house was located at Jalan Teratai Blok G8 RT 03 RW 02, Tanjung Barat, South Jakarta. The local RT head then requested assistance from the fire brigade to handle the fire. The fire is suspected to have originated from flammable chemical liquids.

“It is suspected that the fire came from remnants of used thinner from house renovations,” he said.
