Pavement on Jalan Ambon in Bandung Turned into a Car Garage
Video footage showing a pavement on Jalan Ambon, Bandung, being repurposed into a parking building has gone viral on social media. The Instagram account PRFM even displayed a car parked inside the structure. In the video recording, a car is seen parked within the building’s interior, while another vehicle is parked on the road shoulder outside. Head of the Bandung Public Order Agency (Satpol PP), Bambang Sukardi, confirmed that the parking structure erected on the pavement on Jalan Ambon is unlicensed. He stressed that pavements are solely for pedestrian use and cannot be utilised for any other purpose. “God willing, it will be brought into order because it violates regional regulations,” he stated on Sunday (14/6/2026). Meanwhile, Chris, Head of Community Development and Membership at Bandung Satpol PP, said his team will approach the owner and demand the structure be demolished. If the owner does not comply, Satpol PP will take action. The Bandung city government continues to reorganise pavement areas along several roads in the city, with a number of street vendor stalls already cleared from Jalan Cicadas and Jalan Sukajadi.
