Paul aims to win national drag race
JAKARTA (JP): Canadian Robert Paul of the Star Mild team said on Monday that he wants to avenge his two defeats by winning the third leg of the national drag race at Sentul circuit, near Bogor, on May 14.
"I am ready for Sunday's race (May 14) as I have changed my engine. I want to take revenge on Wie Wie Rianto who has beaten me during the two earlier races (first and second legs)," Paul, a consultant, said.
Paul also wants to break Wie Wie's record of 9.671 seconds.
Some 140 participants are scheduled to compete in the national drag race sponsored by cigarette company Gudang Garam. The race is open free to spectators.
"I am not afraid of Paul as my aim is to break my own record. Nevertheless, the drag race will become the battle of the best drivers and we will see who will be the winner," Wie Wie said.
Those interested in competing in the drag race may register at the Sentul circuit, phone no. 87951080-87951089 or at the Rally Tama secretariat, Jl. Barito No. 7, South Jakarta, phone 7220518.
Scheduled after the national drag race is the Pesta Rally on May 21 and the Formula Asia third leg on May 28. The three races will be held at Sentul circuit. (lnt)
