The Director of Traffic for the Riau Regional Police, Commissioner Jeki Rahmat Mustika, explained that the ‘Operasi Patuh Lancang Kuning 2026’ will be implemented simultaneously across all regencies and cities in Riau Province, coinciding with the nationwide ‘Operasi Patuh’ campaign. The operation aims to enhance public discipline regarding traffic regulations.

“We invite all residents of Riau Province to increase their discipline and compliance in road traffic. Road safety is a shared responsibility,” stated Commissioner Jeki Rahmat Mustika in a statement on Wednesday (3/6/2026).

The operation will run for 14 days, from Monday (8/6) to Sunday (21/6). Enforcement will be carried out across the province using both electronic traffic law enforcement (ETLE) and manual ticketing methods.

Commissioner Jeki urged the public to adhere to traffic laws to reduce accident rates. Through this operation, it is hoped that public awareness of traffic order will increase.

“Through Operasi Patuh Lancang Kuning 2026, we hope to reduce the number of traffic violations and accidents, as well as foster a culture of traffic discipline within the community,” he added.

During its implementation, the 2026 operation will focus enforcement on ten priority targets for traffic violations:

  1. Two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles using exhausts that do not meet technical specifications (illegal loud exhausts).

  2. Trucks that have been modified against manufacturer standards, such as extended chassis or altered technical specifications.

  3. Private vehicles using sirens, rotators, and strobe lights without proper authorisation.

  4. Vehicle registration plates (TNKB) that do not comply with regulations and technical specifications.

  5. Private vehicles being used as illegal travel/shuttle services.

  6. Goods vehicles being used to transport passengers.

  7. Passenger vehicles that are not roadworthy.

  8. Motorcyclists not wearing SNI-standard helmets or carrying more than one passenger.

  9. Vehicles visiting tourist attractions that park on the roadside, obstructing traffic flow.

  10. Drivers operating vehicles while smoking.

In addition to law enforcement, the Riau Regional Police Traffic Directorate will also prioritise preemptive and preventive activities through socialisation, education, counselling, and traffic safety campaigns for the public.

“Maintain traffic order for our collective safety,” he concluded.
