Patuh Operation 2026 Set to Launch, Officers to Issue On-the-Spot Fines
JAKARTA – The Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas) is preparing to launch the Patuh Operation 2026 starting 8 June 2026. Notably, manual ticketing will account for 30% of enforcement actions this year, with 60% handled via ETLE and 10% as sympathetic warnings. Kabag Ops Korlantas Polri, Kombes Pol. Aries Syahbudin stated that the Patuh Operation 2026 will adopt a regional autonomy approach, meaning enforcement methods will be tailored to local characteristics. ‘This year’s Patuh Operation prioritises digital law enforcement through ETLE, so all personnel are required to maximise support for implementation,’ Aries said in a statement on Monday (25/5/2026). Enforcement will be structured as 60% ETLE, 30% manual tickets, and 10% sympathetic warnings. Corps will also focus on violations that hinder ETLE camera functionality, such as removed, partially covered, modified, or disguised license plates using stickers or paint. Aries explained that such violations impair ETLE systems’ ability to read vehicle identification during enforcement. ‘Sympathetic warnings will still be issued in specific situations deemed more effective with a humanistic approach, but will remain limited to 10% of cases,’ Aries said. The Patuh Operation 2026 will continue to prioritise preemptive, preventive, and integrated law enforcement measures to enhance public compliance with traffic regulations.
