Patuh Operation 2026 Begins June 8: Police Target License Plate Violations
The Indonesian National Police’s Traffic Corps (Korlantas) has officially announced the launch of the Patuh Operation 2026, to be conducted simultaneously across all regions of Indonesia. This annual operation is scheduled to run for two weeks from June 8 to June 21, 2026.
This year, police will focus specifically on violations related to vehicle registration plates (TNKB). The move is part of a digital transformation in traffic law enforcement to maximise the effectiveness of Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement (ETLE) cameras.
Kabag Ops Korlantas Polri, Commissioner Aries Syahbudin, explained that license plate violations are a primary target as they often obstruct automated reading systems in electronic traffic cameras. Officers will target vehicles with illegally modified license plates.
Types of license plate violations targeted include:
‘Patuh Operation this year prioritises digital law enforcement through ETLE. License plate violations are a concern as they hinder vehicle identification by cameras,’ said Aries in his statement on Tuesday, 26 May 2026.
Unlike previous years, Patuh Operation 2026 will rely more on technology. Digital enforcement via ETLE will account for 60% of total penalties, while conventional manual tickets will still apply to 30% of specific violations.
Despite prioritising digitalisation, police have stressed that serious, visible, and dangerous violations will still be addressed on the spot. Offences such as driving against traffic, street racing, and non-compliant exhaust systems will continue to be enforced directly by officers at the scene.
The public is urged to ensure their vehicle documents, such as STNK and SIM, are valid. Additionally, ensuring vehicle specifications comply with manufacturer standards and police regulations is advised to avoid penalties during the Patuh Operation 2026 period.
The operation aims to reduce traffic accidents and improve public driving discipline. Ensure your vehicle’s license plate is clean, unmodified, and properly installed to avoid fines between 8 and 21 June 2026.
