Patuh Operation 2026 Begins 8 June, Enforcement Priorities Outlined
The Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps will conduct the Patuh Operation 2026 from 8 to 21 June 2026. Preparations began with a readiness review led by Commissioner Aries Syahbudin, Head of Operations for the Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps, at the NTMC Traffic Corps field on Monday, 25 May 2026. Aries stated that the Patuh Operation 2026 will follow a regional autonomous enforcement model, with each area adjusting its enforcement approach based on local traffic violation conditions and levels. This approach aims to enhance surveillance effectiveness and encourage public compliance with traffic regulations. The operation’s theme is ‘Digital Transformation of Law Enforcement to Achieve a Law-Abiding and Orderly Traffic Society’. ‘This year’s Patuh Operation prioritises digital law enforcement through ETLE, with all personnel required to maximise support for its implementation,’ Aries said, citing the official Polri website. Some violations of concern include actions that can disrupt ETLE camera readings during vehicle identification, according to Aries. Meanwhile, violations such as driving against traffic flow will be enforced directly by officers through conventional tickets on-site. The Traffic Corps has stipulated that ‘sympathetic warnings will still be issued in certain situations deemed more effective with a humane approach, but limited to 10% of cases,’ Aries said. In addition to law enforcement, Patuh Operation 2026 will prioritise preemptive and preventive measures. The Traffic Corps stated the operation aims to sustainably raise public awareness of traffic regulations, not solely focus on issuing fines.
