Pattimura Air Base Holds Beach Clean-Up to Mark 79th Indonesian Air Force Service Day

Ambon (ANTARA) - Pattimura Air Force Base (Lanud Pattimura) carried out a beach clean-up at the Laha State fishing port in Ambon City, Maluku, on Sunday, as part of the 79th Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) Service Day commemoration. Commander of Lanud Pattimura, Colonel Pnb Adhi Safarul Akbar, stated that the community service activity reflected the Air Force’s concern for environmental cleanliness while strengthening synergy with coastal communities. “This activity is a tangible form of the Air Force’s dedication to the community. Through community service, we aim to foster a spirit of mutual cooperation and invite all elements of society to jointly maintain environmental cleanliness,” he said. Adhi explained that dozens of Lanud Pattimura personnel were deployed to clean the port area by collecting rubbish and tidying up the environment to keep it clean, healthy, and comfortable for fishermen and residents who carry out daily activities there. He noted that the Laha State fishing port was chosen as the location because it is a key fisheries activity centre that plays an important role in supporting the coastal community’s economy. A clean environment, he said, will provide comfort for fishermen in carrying out their activities while supporting the creation of a healthy and productive coastal area. Besides maintaining environmental cleanliness, the activity also served as a means to strengthen the relationship between the Air Force and the community as partners in supporting regional development. Adhi added that the 79th Air Force Service Day commemoration is not only a moment to honour the sacrifices of air heroes but is also filled with various activities that provide direct benefits to the community. Through this community service, Lanud Pattimura managed to collect at least 50 bags of rubbish. He expressed hope that the spirit of togetherness and environmental awareness will continue to grow so that the culture of maintaining cleanliness becomes a shared responsibility. “We hope the spirit of togetherness built through this activity can be maintained, so that concern for environmental cleanliness becomes a culture practised sustainably by all elements of society,” he said. He added that the Air Force’s presence in the community is realised not only through the duty of safeguarding airspace sovereignty but also through social activities that have a positive impact on people’s lives, including preserving the coastal environment in the context of commemorating the 79th Air Force Service Day.
