REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PALU - Pantoloan Customs officials acted against four packages containing a total of 212 slops or 42,400 illegal cigarettes of various brands without affixed excise bands. The enforcement took place during a patrol at one of the Freight Forwarding Companies (PJT) in Palu City, Central Sulawesi, on Monday (6/4/2026).

The enforcement occurred at a freight forwarding warehouse located on Jalan R.E. Martadinata, Tondo, Mantikulore. From the inspection results, officers successfully secured four packages containing a total of 212 slops of illegal cigarettes of various brands without affixed excise bands.

β€œThe details include 77 slops of L300 brand, 67 slops and 5 packs of Marbol brand, and 67 slops and 5 packs of Boss Caffe Latte brand, with the overall total reaching 42,400 cigarette sticks,” detailed the Head of Pantoloan Customs Office, Wing Hartopo.

The value of the seized goods is estimated at Rp 62,964,000, with a potential state loss of Rp 31,630,400.

Regarding this finding, the seized goods do not meet the requirements as regulated in Law Number 11 of 1995 on Excise, which has been amended several times, most recently through Law Number 7 of 2021 on Harmonisation of Tax Regulations.

Hartopo stated that this enforcement is a form of the seriousness of Customs in preventing the circulation of illegal cigarettes, especially those exploiting shipment distribution channels. He emphasised that supervision will continue to be strengthened to close loopholes in the circulation of illegal goods in its working area.

He also called on the public to actively participate in reporting if they find indications of illegal cigarette circulation in their surroundings. According to him, public participation is very important in creating an orderly and compliant ecosystem regarding excise provisions.
