Patriotic songs

Patriotic songs

From Merdeka

Being a member of the younger generation, I am concerned with
the media's recent coverage of situations which are packed with
violence and stark brutality.

These incidents should not be emphasized with expressions like
"social disparity", or should not blame a certain party.

We should, as inheritors of the spirit of freedom fighters,
ponder upon the misfortunes assailing our beloved country. If we
are honest with ourselves, we might be able to detect the cause
within ourselves. The root of the problem is a lack of heroism.
We have to develop a sense of heroism and nurture it.

I suggest the government issue more patriotic songs to be
aired from Sabang to Merauke. Speaking from experience, songs
could change the atmosphere, particularly the present atmosphere.
Hopefully, integration and unity can be maintained.

I am drawing on my experience of training center BLK Jakarta
which attracted participants from various provinces.

A spirit of solidarity prevailed at the training and there
were no feelings of disparity. We felt as one nation, one
country. Every morning the melodious sounds of freedom would
entertain us. This is how we nourished the spirit of one country
and one nation.

Today I realize the necessity of freedom songs which could
strengthen our sense of nationhood and statesmanship for our
beloved republic.
