Pati United Community Alliance Departs in Stages for Jakarta, Ready to Join 27 August Rally
Hundreds of residents of Pati Regency who are members of the Pati United Community Alliance (AMPB) have begun moving towards Jakarta in stages to take part in a demonstration scheduled for 27 August 2026.
A number of participants departed using at least four buses from Pati and several areas in Central Java. They will join masses from various regions to convey their aspirations in front of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) building in Jakarta.
AMPB coordinator Supriyono, also known as Botok, together with Teguh Istiyanto, led the departure of the group from Pati Regency on Sunday (23/8). Some participants are said to have already arrived in Jakarta and are preparing to join the rally on Thursday (27/8).
In the demonstration, AMPB is bringing demands related to the passage of the Asset Forfeiture Bill as part of efforts to eradicate corruption.
Central Java Deputy Governor Taj Yasin Maimoen said the Central Java Provincial Government would oversee the delivery of the aspirations of the Pati community. He also urged that the rally be conducted in an orderly manner and that aspirations be conveyed properly and politely.
According to Taj Yasin, conveying aspirations is part of the democratic process and is believed to receive a space for dialogue from the central government.
Meanwhile, Supriyono, also known as Botok, confirmed that rally participants from Pati and several areas in Central Java had arrived in Jakarta. He stressed that the masses remain committed to joining the rally according to the planned agenda.
“Alhamdulillah, we have arrived in Jakarta and are preparing to hold a demonstration demanding the passage of the Asset Forfeiture Bill,” said Botok.
In his statement, Botok also revealed a number of obstacles experienced by participants before and during the journey to Jakarta.
He said several bus companies that had previously been booked by participants from Pati and Jepara suddenly cancelled the departures and returned the down payments. According to Botok, the bus companies claimed to have received telephone calls from the police instructing them not to transport rally participants to Jakarta.
Another obstacle reportedly occurred when one of the buses was travelling on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road, precisely around Kilometre 56, in the Karawang area of West Java. Botok claimed the bus was pelted with stones from the direction of a bridge, hitting the front windscreen.
“I was sitting near the driver and was quite startled. According to colleagues, the perpetrators of the stone-throwing were wearing hoodies,” he said.
In addition, Botok revealed that an account said to contain personal funds and donations totalling around Rp80.9 million had been temporarily blocked. He said the bank later apologised and stated that the blocking was carried out at the request of law enforcement officials.
Despite facing a number of obstacles, AMPB stated that it would not abandon its intention to convey its aspirations. They confirmed that participants from Pati remain prepared to join the rally in front of the DPR RI building on 27 August 2026.
Botok stressed that the rally is a form of conveying the community’s aspirations and asked that participants not be viewed as a criminal group.
“We are not terrorists and not criminals. We are only conveying the aspirations and will of the people for the good of this nation,” he said.
The Central Java Provincial Government stated that it would oversee the demonstration by Pati residents who are members of the Pati United Community Alliance (AMPB) at the DPR RI building in Jakarta on 27 August 2026.
According to the plan, on Sunday afternoon (31/8) a number of residents departed using dozens of buses that had been prepared.
Pati residents also plan to hold a demonstration in front of the Merah Putih Building in Jakarta on 3-4 September.
Thousands of residents of Pati Regency, Central Java, filled Simpang Lima Square and the front of the Pati Regency Pendopo on Monday (25/8).
Pati residents in Central Java continue to arrive in waves at the Pati United Community Alliance (AMPB) post to donate money for the demonstration at the Merah Putih Building in Jakarta.
