Non-active Pati Regent Sudewo has been indicted for receiving Rp2.4 billion during the appointment process for village officials in the regency, which took place between 2025 and 2026.

Public Prosecutor Joko Hermawan stated during a hearing at the Semarang Corruption Court on Monday that the defendant allegedly abused his authority regarding the filling of village apparatus positions. The prosecutor detailed that candidates were required to pay a sum of money, with amounts ranging from Rp165 million to Rp225 million per person.

The prosecutor noted there were 15 candidates for village official posts who paid sums ranging from Rp130 million to Rp165 million each. The money that had to be deposited was then collected by Abdul Suyono, who acted as a representative for Pati Regent Sudewo. Abdul Suyono is the Village Head of Karangrowo, alongside two other village heads involved: Sumarjiono of Arumanis and Karjan of Sukorukun.

In the same corruption case, defendant Sudewo is also indicted for accepting bribes and gratuities in a project under the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) at the Ministry of Transportation, totalling Rp3.8 billion, in his capacity as a former member of House of Representatives Commission V. In response to the public prosecutor’s indictment, defendant Sudewo will submit an exception plea at the next hearing.
