Patching the State Budget: Government Debt Plans Until Year-End Revealed
The Ministry of Finance has revealed that the strategy for issuing debt securities or Government Securities (SBN) to meet financing requirements until the end of the year remains unchanged.
This was disclosed by the Director General of Budget Financing and Risk Management at the Ministry of Finance, Suminto, during the APBN KiTA session on Friday (18/09/2026).
“To meet financing needs until the end of the year, our instrument mix remains in line with the strategy used in SUN and SBSN auctions every Tuesday, continuing as usual,” said Suminto.
This financing strategy is also aligned with targets, aimed at addressing the 2026 state budget deficit outlook of 2.85%.
He also emphasised that the issuance of domestic SBN will remain steady, with no additional large-scale auctions that could increase the risk of SBN supply.
“Therefore, we want to ensure that the supply risk of domestic SBN issuance is maintained. This means there will be no additional issuance through larger auctions that add supply risk, which could potentially increase yields,” Suminto explained.
With a strategy that remains on track, the Ministry hopes to maintain SBN yields. “By keeping the strategy on track, we hope to be able to maintain the yield levels of our SBN,” he added.
Furthermore, the government will continue to issue two series of retail SBN, namely Sukuk Tabungan and conventional retail SBN.
The government also retains the option to issue SBN in foreign currencies, depending on market conditions.
Meanwhile, programme loans from the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank (ADB), and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) are available for disbursement.
