The Pasuruan Regency Government in East Java has deployed three water tankers and one fire engine to extinguish a forest fire in the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (TNBTS) area of Pasuruan Regency. Head of the Pasuruan Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Sugeng Hariyadi, said the fire is still burning forest and land areas at Bukit Pusung Dhuwur, Wonokitri Village, Tosari District, with steep terrain and strong winds.

"As of today, Tuesday (11/8), entering the tenth day, it has not been fully extinguished. The fire continues to blaze because it is carried by strong winds. Officers are also assisted by one fire engine belonging to the Pasuruan Military District Command 0819," Sugeng said in a statement received in Pasuruan on Tuesday.

Joint officers from the Pasuruan BPBD, along with the fire service, Civil Service Police Unit, the Indonesian Military, the National Police, the Fire Care Community, the East Java BPBD, TNBTS, and the National Disaster Management Agency, are using barriers to extinguish small-scale fire spots that can still be reached manually. In addition, firefighting efforts using helicopters via the water bombing method have been carried out since the morning. Around 100 people are involved in manual firefighting to control the flames that are still occurring at several points in the TNBTS area. "We are now entering the tenth day after the first fire in Lumajang, and hopefully the volume of the fire will continue to decrease," said Sugeng.
