Pasuruan Regency Accelerates Kedungbanteng-Wonokerto Road Repairs
The Pasuruan Regency Government is progressively conducting periodic maintenance on road sections requiring repair. One of the infrastructures currently being refurbished is the Kedungbanteng-Wonokerto road, which serves as a crucial access point for communities in the southern part of Pasuruan Regency.
Prior to the repairs, the condition of the road was considered concerning, despite being frequently used by the public for various activities.
According to M Raafi from the contractor, PT Adika Raya Persada, the work is currently in its early stages before the main rigid concrete pouring begins. The field team is first working on the working floor as a base layer. As of Wednesday (16/09/2026), the construction of the working floor from STA zero has reached approximately 110 metres.
“At this stage, we are still working on the working floor or the base material before the main rigid concrete is laid. Today, the laying of the working floor or base layer from STA zero has reached 110 metres,” Raafi stated in a written release on Friday (18/09/2026).
Raafi noted that the work has proceeded relatively smoothly so far. Favourable weather conditions have assisted the process, although the team must still adapt to the varying terrain and soil contours along the road section.
“One of the challenges in the field is the varying soil conditions. After the compaction and watering process, some parts of the road become slippery, requiring extra caution during the work,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Nurul, a member of Commission III of the Pasuruan Regency Regional House of Representatives (DPRD), stated that the road condition before intervention was indeed quite severe. The damage made access uncomfortable for local residents, despite the route being used for daily activities.
She mentioned that the road serves as a connecting link between Kedungcaleng and several other areas, such as Oro-oro Bulus, Candibinangun, Wonokerto, and Sukorejo. Therefore, the road repair is considered vital not only for Kedungbanteng residents but also for those using the route as inter-village access.
“This road is a throughway to several villages and towards Sukorejo. This route is highly necessary for residents in the southern area,” she said.
Nurul also expressed her appreciation for the Pasuruan Regency Government’s steps in addressing this section. She extended her gratitude to the Regent of Pasuruan, Rusdi Sutejo, the Vice Regent, KH Shobih Asrori, and the local government officials supporting the infrastructure repair.
According to her, the handling of the road in the Kedungbanteng area is not the first time it has been addressed. When Regent Rusdi Sutejo was still a member of the Pasuruan Regency DPRD around 2013-20ly, approximately two kilometres of the road in that area received hotmix asphalt paving.
However, after years of use and exposure to various conditions, the road had fallen into disrepair once again. Consequently, renewed intervention is required to restore the road’s function as public access.
“Previously, when Mr Rusdi Sutejo was a member of the council and I was a Village Head, we had applied hotmix for about two kilometres. But now the road is damaged again,” she concluded.
