Passport Collection Can Be Delegated: Here Is the List of Required Documents
Passport collection at immigration offices can be delegated. If the passport owner cannot collect it personally due to commitments, it can be collected by a representative.
Quoting from a post by the Directorate General of Immigration’s Instagram account (@ditjen_imigrasi), passports must be collected no later than 30 days after completion. The following parties can represent someone to collect a passport:
Family members within the same family card
Other parties (outside the family card)
Required Documents
- Family members within the same family
Proof of passport application
Family card (KK) as proof of family relationship
Photocopy of the representative’s ID card
- Other parties (outside the family card)
Proof of passport application
Power of attorney letter with stamp duty
Photocopy of the representative’s ID card
Fines for Lost or Damaged Passports
According to the official Immigration website, replacement of ordinary passports can be applied for in the following cases:
The passport’s validity period is about to expire (less than six months),
The passport’s validity period has expired,
The passport is lost,
The passport is damaged during the issuance process. In this case, the issuing immigration office will immediately cancel it,
The passport is damaged outside the issuance process (torn, wet, burned, scribbled, etc.), making the information unclear or giving an inappropriate impression as an official document. In this case, the Immigration Officer will revoke the passport after an inspection report is prepared.
It should be noted that for lost or damaged passports, a fine is imposed in addition to the passport fee. Here are the details of the costs:
Burden fee for lost passport: Rp 1,000,000
Burden fee for damaged passport: Rp 500,000
Burden fee for lost/damaged passport due to force majeure: Rp 0, meaning no fee is charged.
If the inspection determines that the ordinary passport is lost or damaged due to:
A disaster, such as fire, flooding, or earthquake, you may receive immediate replacement;
Lack of care and the loss occurs beyond control, you will be given a replacement ordinary passport;
Negligence or carelessness with unacceptable reasons, the issuance of an ordinary passport may be suspended for at least six months up to a maximum of two years.
