Passport application
Passport application
From Kompas
When I applied for a passport at the immigration office in
Bandung, I was asked to present a certificate of Indonesian
citizenship along with my identity card, birth certificate and
family card.
My father's citizenship certificate (a VI B form) is not
registered at the state court. And the result is that I was
denied a passport. I asked an immigration officer about
separating my citizenship from my father's, since I have reached
adulthood. According to them, it can not be arranged that way
because my father is still using the VI B form. As I have a birth
certificate bearing my Indonesian name, why is my citizenship in
doubt, despite my birth certificate having been issued by the
state court?
Hario Subayu, head of public relations of the Directorate
General of Immigration, explained in Kompas, on Oct. 28, that to
apply for a passport, an applicant must submit an identity card,
family card, and a personal certificate such as a birth
certificate.
So why should I need a certificate of Indonesian citizenship?
How can I get one? Could someone explain?
