Passing Selection, Prospective Village Cooperative Managers to Undergo 2-Month Training

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Special recruitment for the position of Manager of the Merah Putih Village Cooperative has commenced since 15 April and will close on 24 April 2026. The government is opening around 30,000 job vacancies.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya and Minister of Cooperatives Ferry Juliantono discussed this recruitment at the Cabinet Secretariat office in Jakarta on Monday evening (20/4/2026).

From this meeting, it emerged that applicants who pass the selection will undergo special managerial and cooperative training for a full two months. After that, these prospective village cooperative managers will work officially under the coordination of the Ministry of Cooperatives and also state-owned enterprises.

“After registration, applicants will be selected and then participate in managerial and cooperative training for around two months, after which they will officially become cooperative managers working under cross-ministry/institutional coordination, particularly the Ministry of Cooperatives and state-owned enterprises,” stated the official Cabinet Secretariat remarks on Instagram on Tuesday (21/4/2026).

Previously, the government targeted the gradual establishment of around 80,000 Merah Putih Village Cooperatives. Accordingly, assuming each cooperative has one manager and at least 10 workers, this programme has the potential to create at least 800,000 new jobs.

Regarding status, prospective Merah Putih Village Cooperative (KDMP) managers will hold worker status with a fixed-term employment agreement (PKWT).

Deputy Head of the State-Owned Enterprises Regulatory Agency (BP BUMN), Tedi Bharata, said that with the PKWT system, managers’ salaries will comply with applicable regulations.

“As for the salary, since it has been conveyed that the status will be PKWT, there are rules for it; we can’t just arbitrarily set the salary. So don’t worry, no need to be too concerned,” Tedi said when met by reporters at the Coordinating Ministry for Food office on Monday (20/4/2026).

However, regarding the exact amount, his side along with relevant ministries/institutions is still discussing the managers’ remuneration.
