Passengers Walk on Railway Tracks During KRL Bojong Gede-Citayam Disruption; KAI Commuter Responds
KAI Commuter confirmed that the evacuation process for passengers affected by the KRL Commuter Line disruption on the Citayam-Bojonggede route was carried out in accordance with procedures on Wednesday (11 March 2026) evening.
The statement was made following a viral video circulating on social media platform Instagram (@dramakrlcommuterline) showing several passengers walking on railway tracks.
In the video, some passengers can be seen exiting the train and walking along the tracks. Several other passengers were evacuated by personnel after the train had been stationary on the line for an extended period.
KAI Commuter Public Relations Manager Leza Arlan stated that the evacuation process had been conducted in accordance with applicable safety standards.
“The evacuation process for affected Commuter Line users has been carried out in accordance with evacuation procedures, prioritising safety and following personnel instructions,” said Leza Arlan in a statement on Wednesday.
The disruption was reported at approximately 15:59 WIB. Personnel began addressing the issue from 17:30 WIB and successfully resolved it approximately 70 minutes later, at 18:40 WIB.
“The track system has been restored, and the Commuter Line can now pass through the location at a speed of 20 kilometres per hour,” said Leza.
As a result of the disruption, KRL services on the line temporarily operated on a single track with alternating direction usage.
This occurred because the damage was located on the railway track in the direction from Bojonggede towards Citayam.
“Until 18:10 WIB, eight Commuter Line services on the Jakarta-Bogor/Nambo route were only able to reach Depok before returning to Jakarta Kota,” explained Leza.
“At present, the Bojonggede-Citayam line can still be traversed by trains using a single track on an alternating basis,” said KAI Commuter Vice President of Corporate Secretary Karina Amanda when confirmed by Kompas.com on Wednesday.
The disruption was experienced by passenger Prastika (22), who reported that the train she was aboard was held at Pasar Minggu Station for quite some time.
The journey to Universitas Pancasila Station, which normally takes approximately 15 minutes, took considerably longer.
“We were held at Pasar Minggu for quite a while because of the disruption, so it took 30 minutes to reach UP,” said Prastika.
