Passengers' Stories on Trains: Loyal Waiting Despite Delays Due to Bekasi Accident
Several train journeys from Gambir Station have experienced delays as a result of a collision between a KRL and the Argo Bromo train at the Bekasi Timur crossing. A number of passengers have chosen to wait rather than cancel their trips.
One of the trains delayed at Gambir Station is the Taksaka train bound for Yogyakarta. The train was originally scheduled to depart at 07:45 WIB but had not left by 09:20 WIB.
One passenger, Sinsin, said she had been inside the carriage since 07:40 WIB. However, the train she was on had not yet been given the go-ahead to depart.
“Oh, I’ve been in the train since before 07:45. Now it’s nine o’clock, so it’s been over an hour. They say we don’t know when it will depart,” said Sinsin when met on Tuesday (28/4/2026).
Sinsin, who was travelling for a company gathering with a group of 14 people, chose to wait. She said she had no intention of cancelling her ticket because all accommodations in Yogyakarta had already been paid for.
“I haven’t thought about cancelling up to now. We’re still loyally waiting because everything has been booked, so we can’t cancel. We’ve already booked the hotel for two nights, three days,” she explained.
Sinsin expressed sympathy for the accident that caused the delay. “Well, we have to accept it, because we’re still concerned for our fellow Indonesians; it’s a misfortune. We accept it as it is,” added Sinsin.
A similar story came from Adin (25), a passenger on the Gunung Jati train to Semarang. Adin, who planned to go home to his village, also waited at the station because the departure of the train scheduled for 09:00 WIB was affected.
“I plan to go to Semarang. The one I booked is still departing, but I got information that it’s delayed. Since the one at 7 o’clock hasn’t left yet, we might have to wait; I don’t know how long the delay will be,” said Adin.
Adin said he had not received an official notification via email about the delay in departure due to the incident in Bekasi. He only found out after asking the staff.
“There’s nothing in the email yet, but earlier I got info from asking the operational staff. I saw in the news that there was a collision in Bekasi, so probably the delay is because of that,” he revealed.
Even though his departure schedule was pushed back, Adin understood the situation. For him, the accident was a tragedy that no one wanted.
“It should arrive at 2 pm. Because of the delay, it might arrive later in the afternoon. I can’t do anything about it; I can’t get angry either; it’s a tragedy, what can you do,” Adin concluded.
For information, the accident occurred at 20:50 WIB on Monday night (27/4). The train accident happened precisely at Bekasi Timur Station.
On the other hand, several train journeys from the Daop 1 Jakarta region today have experienced departure delays today. PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) has expressed its apologies.
The Public Relations Manager of KAI Daop 1 Jakarta, Franoto Wibowo, said that this condition is an impact of the accident involving a long-distance train (KA) and the KRL Commuter Line at Bekasi Timur Station, Bekasi City, last night.
“Several KA journeys from Gambir and Pasar Senen Stations are delayed because they have to wait in queue for train journeys,” said Franoto in his statement on Tuesday (28/4).
Franoto explained that the delay occurred because KA journeys had to wait in queue for train movements. He assured that the journey arrangements were prioritised with operational safety and security.
