Passengers pelt train station

TEGAL, Central Java: The town's main railway station and its
office suffered extensive damage after dozens of passengers on
the packed Kertajaya train from Surabaya to Jakarta went on a
rampage because their journey had been repeatedly delayed.

The train was held up at Tegal on Tuesday because of major
flooding in Batang just outside the town, Antara said.

Some passengers, who already had had their journey repeatedly
delayed before arriving in Tegal, lost their patience, got off
the train, picked up stones and pelted the railway ticketing
counter and offices.

Railway staff and many awaiting passengers ran for cover.
There were no reports of injury.

The train subsequently left and managed to reach its
destination. (emb)
