Situbondo — Jangkar Port in Situbondo, East Java was congested with homecoming travellers preparing to cross to several islands in Sumenep Regency, Madura, on the eve of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijrah on Monday evening.

Slamet Santoso, Supervisor of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry’s Ketapang Branch, which oversees Jangkar Port in Situbondo, reported that homecoming travellers destined for various islands in Sumenep Regency continued to arrive in increasing numbers over recent days.

“This evening there is a ferry departure, namely the KMP Dharma Kartika operating the Jangkar–Raas route, carrying hundreds of passengers, and all have been successfully transported,” he said at Situbondo on Monday evening.

According to Slamet, during the 2026 Eid homecoming operation on routes from Jangkar Port to Raas Island, Sapudi, Kalianget, and Kangean in Sumenep Regency, three ferries are in service: KMP Munggiyango Hulalo, KMP Wicitra Dharma I, and KMP Dharma Kartika.

During this year’s Eid homecoming period, he continued, ASDP at Jangkar Port has made preparations well in advance to ensure smooth service delivery to travellers.

“The three ferries serving homecoming travellers heading to several islands in Madura have also added extra journeys or additional sailing schedules to ease congestion at Jangkar Port,” said Slamet.

Meanwhile, one homecoming traveller from Raas Island, Sumenep Regency, Suliatun, said she chose to start her journey home earlier out of concern that congestion would worsen as Eid approached.

“My family and I arrived at Jangkar Port from Bali on Sunday (8 March), and we were able to cross this evening,” she said.
