The pinisi vessel KM Feronia capsized in the waters off Batu Bolong, Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara, at around 3.02pm local time on Tuesday (13 October). The vessel was travelling from Labuan Bajo to Rinca Island with 30 people on board: 25 passengers and five crew members.

Initial information indicated that the passengers had recently completed a diving trip in the waters off Manta. As the boat passed the waters near Tatawa Besar, it was hit by strong currents and capsized.

The Labuan Bajo Class III Harbourmaster and Port Authority (KSOP) team evacuated 29 people — five crew members and 24 passengers — and took them to Marina Waterfront Pier. One passenger was reported missing, while the exact cause of the incident is under investigation.
