Passengers Crammed Due to KRL Green Line Disruption at Serpong Station
“I departed from Sudimara Station heading to Tanah Abang; usually, the hope for residents from Sudimara-Jurangmangu is just the KRL from Serpong,” said one resident, Riani, when contacted by detikcom on Tuesday (12/5/2026).
There was a buildup of KRL passengers at Sudimara station this morning due to the disruption at Serpong Station. Passengers could still board KRLs departing from Parung Panjang Station or Rangkas Bitung Station.
Based on a photo shared by Riani on her Threads account @bublyfly, passengers were crowding the platform at Sudimara. Passengers were squeezing into already packed KRL carriages. She even claimed her phone cracked due to the overcrowding.
“But it turned out that this morning the train from Serpong had a disruption; the doors wouldn’t open, which was supposed to depart at 06:15, resulting in a buildup at several subsequent stations. Even my phone cracked, even though it was in my bag,” said Riani.
She said the incident occurred around 06:59 WIB. She chose to wait for the next KRL to avoid the extreme crowding.
“The video I took at 06:59, I skipped that train, but after that, alhamdulillah, I managed to board. Once I was on the KRL, there was no delay; the delay was at the beginning in Serpong, so as a result, Sudimara-Pondok Ranji stations were extremely crowded,” she said.
Previously, one KRL set 1635B on the Serpong-Tanah Abang route experienced a technical disruption this morning. KAI Commuter Line (KCI) assured that other KRL operations could still pass through, though delays occurred.
“We apologise for the operational disruption this morning affecting KA1635B on the Serpong-Tanah Abang route at Serpong Station, which is currently being handled by our staff,” said VP Corporate Secretary of KAI Commuter, Karina Amanda, when contacted on Tuesday (12/5/2026).
The cause of the disruption is not yet known. KCI stated that the issue is currently being addressed by staff.
KCI assured that passengers heading to Tanah Abang Station can still use subsequent KRLs departing from Parung Panjang Station or Rangkas Bitung Station.
