Several passengers at Gambir Railway Station in Jakarta have stated that trains are a safe and comfortable choice for long-distance journeys, particularly during the 2026 Lebaran transport period. “Yes, I prefer the train because there’s no hassle with traffic,” said Riri, one of the train passengers arriving at Gambir Station on Saturday. The passenger from Semarang said that compared to buses, rail transport is a safer and more comfortable option, especially for long-distance trips. In terms of safety, she noted that travelling by train is also more secure than other modes of transport. Diah, another passenger also travelling from Semarang, said she finds it easier to access her destination using the train. “Gambir Station is close to my home and workplace in Jakarta. So, I often use the train during Lebaran,” she said. Meanwhile, another passenger, Didik, stated that besides being comfortable, train travel is also faster than other options. “Compared to other transport, the train is definitely faster and on time,” said the male passenger from Central Java. KAI Daop 1 Jakarta’s Public Relations Manager, Franoto Wibowo, conveyed that the operational condition of train services has been running smoothly, safely, and under control so far. “We ensure all train journeys run smoothly with maintained punctuality,” he said. Cumulatively, he mentioned that during the Lebaran transport period from 11 March to 28 March 2026, KAI Daop 1 Jakarta has served 815,703 departing passengers and 622,517 arriving passengers, according to data up to 28 March at 09:00 WIB. During the return flow period since 23 March 2026, arrival volumes have consistently been above 50,000 passengers per day. He said this demonstrates the high trust of the public in rail transport as the primary choice for safe, comfortable, and punctual long-distance travel. KAI Daop 1 Jakarta recorded that most return flow passengers come from popular cities such as Semarang, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Purwokerto, Bandung, and Jember.
