Passengers Choose Whoosh Because Tickets Can Be Bought Close to Departure
Jakarta (ANTARA) - A number of passengers choose to use the Whoosh High-Speed Train because tickets can be purchased close to the departure time, especially during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr holiday period.
“Now, booking tickets is easy via the app. Even close to departure time, it’s still possible,” said one passenger, Leni (35), when met at the Whoosh High-Speed Train Station in East Jakarta on Thursday.
Leni said that this ease is the reason she switched to using Whoosh for her journey to Bandung. Previously, she more often used private vehicles to travel to Bandung, but now she chooses the high-speed train because it is considered more practical and efficient.
“First, because it’s faster, second, because this is the first time, I want to try the facilities too,” she said.
Nevertheless, Leni provided several suggestions, including regarding the temperature in the waiting room which she hopes will be cooler and the refund process which she considers takes quite a long time.
“The refund apparently has to wait 15 working days. I hope it can be within 1x24 hours,” she said.
One cleaning staff member, Perdiyawan Hakim, admitted that he has not gone home for Eid for three years because he continues to carry out duties serving passengers.
“It’s almost three years now,” said Hakim.
During the Eid period, he still works so he cannot celebrate the holiday with his family in Sukabumi, West Java.
“At most, after Eid, then go home, but only for a few days,” he said.
According to him, there are joys and sorrows while on duty during the Eid moment. He feels happy to help the smooth travel of passengers, but must hold back longing because he cannot meet his family.
“The joy is being able to escort passengers going home for Eid. The sorrow is not being able to meet family,” he said.
PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) predicts that a surge in Whoosh passengers will occur again on Saturday and Sunday, 28-29 March 2026, in line with the end of the school holiday period and the work from anywhere (WFA) policy.
