Passengers at Tegal Station Increase by 15% During 2026 Eid Transport
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Daerah Operasi 4 Semarang, Central Java, announced that the 2026 Eid transport period, running from 11 March to 1 April 2026, concluded safely, smoothly, and under control.
During this period, Daop 4 Semarang recorded an increase in the number of passengers using rail services, both for homecoming journeys and return flows. At Tegal Station, the number of rail passengers totalled 177,087, consisting of 84,810 boarding and 92,277 alighting, marking a 15% increase compared to the 2025 Eid transport.
The highest number of passengers at Tegal Station during the homecoming flow occurred on Wednesday, 18 March 2026, with 8,433 passengers. Meanwhile, during the return flow, it was on Tuesday, 24 March 2026, with 11,908 passengers.
The transport capacity of Daop 4 Semarang’s trains during the 2026 Eid period also increased by 4%, to 424,260 seats, compared to 408,368 seats in the 2025 Eid transport.
Meanwhile, the On Time Performance (OTP) for Daop 4 departures was recorded at 99.50% for departures and 98.15% for arrivals. The total number of Daop 4 train departures from 11 March to 1 April 2026 was 746 trains, a 1% increase from 2025.
Manager of Public Relations for KAI Daop 4 Semarang, Luqman Arif, expressed thanks to all customers who trusted rail as their choice of transportation to support their mobility during the 2026 Eid transport period.
“The high interest from the public demonstrates growing trust in rail transport as the primary choice that is safe, comfortable, and punctual,” said Luqman in an official statement on Thursday (2/4).
Luqman highlighted data showing that passengers from Tegal Station during the 2026 Eid transport were predominantly destined for Jakarta, Surabaya, Purwokerto, and Solo.
Popular departing trains from Tegal Station included Kaligung, Tawang Jaya, Airlangga, Kamandaka, and Joglosemarkerto.
For stations in Daop 4, the highest passenger numbers during the 2026 Eid transport were at Semarang Tawang Station with 170,165 boarding and 178,447 alighting, Semarang Poncol Station with 146,178 boarding and 131,975 alighting, Tegal Station with 84,810 boarding and 92,277 alighting, Pekalongan Station with 66,445 boarding and 69,514 alighting, and Cepu Station with 30,634 boarding and 33,897 alighting.
“This achievement is inseparable from the various preparations carried out beforehand, from enhancing the maintenance of facilities and infrastructure, readiness of human resources, to optimising services at stations and on trains,” explained Luqman.
KAI Daop 4 Semarang expressed appreciation and thanks to all parties involved in the success of the 2026 Eid transport.
“We extend our utmost gratitude to local governments, police, TNI, BMKG, and volunteers who have collaborated to maintain security, safety, and smoothness of rail journeys. Support from all stakeholders is very meaningful for operational smoothness during the Eid transport period,” said Luqman.
