Passenger Traffic at El Tari Kupang Airport Rises 26 Percent During Eid Exodus
Kupang (ANTARA) - The Air Transport Post at El Tari Kupang Airport recorded a 26 percent increase in passenger movements during the Eid exodus at the international airport from H-8 to H+2 of Eid 2026 compared to the same period the previous year.
General Manager of El Tari Kupang Airport, Teguh Darmawan Saiman, in Kupang on Wednesday, stated that over the 12-day Eid Air Transport Post operation from 13 to 24 March 2026, the total passenger movements reached 42,295 people.
“This figure is a 26 percent increase compared to the same period in 2025, which recorded 33,548 passengers,” he said.
He mentioned that on H+2 Eid on Tuesday (24/3), the total number of travellers passing through the international airport reached 3,719 people.
In addition to passengers, he also noted a significant 33 percent surge in aircraft movements, from 346 in 2025 to 460 in 2026.
Meanwhile, the peak return flow is predicted to occur on Saturday (28/3) or H+6 Eid, with an estimated 3,819 passengers.
Despite the increase in traffic, the airport’s operational conditions up to H+2 Eid remain conducive.
“All personnel have implemented 3S+1C, namely Safety, Security, Service, and Compliance, while prioritising hospitality in serving users,” he stated.
During the Eid transport period, El Tari Kupang Airport also presented various activities to enhance the passenger experience, such as Ramadan Safari, distribution of iftar meals, Islamic fashion shows, and marawis performances.
“Through these thematic events, we aim to provide a different experience for passengers as part of our service with the tagline of serving wholeheartedly,” said Teguh.
In addition to services, strengthening security and order aspects continues through coordination with the Air Force, Navy, and Police.
