Passenger overcrowding occurred at the Transjakarta Velbak bus stop on Friday morning (20 February), following severe congestion in the Ciledug area.

Based on observations by CNNIndonesia.com, queues of stranded passengers at Velbak bus stop had already extended back to the pedestrian bridge connecting Kebayoran bus stop and Kebayoran train station.

Transjakarta staff were forced to halt the escalators due to the overcrowding.

Buses arriving at Velbak bus stop came at intervals of approximately 5–10 minutes, but were invariably full. This applied to corridor 13, 13B and L13E services alike.

Occasionally, an empty corridor 13 Transjakarta bus would loop back via Velbak bus stop, but these arrived only every 10–15 minutes.

As of 08:45 Western Indonesian Time, the overcrowding at Velbak bus stop persisted. With office workers rushing to avoid being late, many continued to force their way onto already packed buses.

Transjakarta had earlier announced via its social media accounts that corridor 13, 13B and L13E services were experiencing delays.

“Corridor 13, Route 13B and L13E are experiencing bus arrival delays due to flooding near Swadarma,” Transjakarta wrote on its X account.
