Passenger Numbers at Soetta Airport Exceed 169,000 on H-4, Peak Mudik Movement Predicted Tomorrow
Passenger movement at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (Soetta) continues to increase ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah in 2026. On H-4 (four days before) Eid al-Fitr, PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia (InJourney Airports) recorded 169,843 people passing through Indonesia’s largest airport.
Assistant Deputy Communication & Legal at Soetta Airport, Yudistiawan, explained that the figure was dominated by domestic passenger movement. “From the total movement, domestic passenger movement dominated with 128,452 people, whilst international passengers totalled 41,391 people,” Yudistiawan said in Tangerang on Tuesday, 17 March.
This figure represents an increase compared to the previous day, Monday (16 March), which recorded approximately 167,602 passengers. However, a significant surge is predicted to occur on the peak mudik (migration) period, forecast to fall on Wednesday, 18 March 2026.
“Tomorrow will be the peak, which we predict will reach approximately 187,202 passengers with 1,193 flights, both domestic and international, departures and arrivals,” he added.
In anticipation of congestion in terminal areas and long queues during check-in and security screening processes, airport management authorities issued important advisories for prospective passengers. InJourney Airports continues to mobilise personnel and facilities across all terminals to ensure passenger comfort and smooth travel during the 2026 Eid transportation period.
The government has provided stimulus through various sectors, including purchase tax exemptions, jet fuel costs, and other additional charges (surcharge). Until H-4 Eid, aircraft tickets sold have reached 50 per cent of the total 6.6 million seats provided by airlines.
