Passenger Movement at Purabaya Terminal Monitored as Steady Until Friday 27 March 2026 Afternoon
The return flow of the 2026 Eid al-Fitr holiday continues to show significant passenger movement at various terminals. Based on monitoring data on Friday (27/3), from 00:00 to 11:00 WIB, thousands of passengers have been recorded travelling for both departures and arrivals.
In that eleven-hour period, intercity buses within the province (AKDP) dominated transportation activities. At the departure gate, 6,994 passengers were recorded using 390 bus fleets. This consisted of 134 AKAP buses with 2,059 passengers and 256 AKDP buses with 4,935 passengers.
Meanwhile, at the arrival gate, 6,526 passengers arrived with a total of 350 bus fleets. This consisted of 122 AKAP buses with 1,088 passengers and 228 AKDP buses with 5,438 passengers.
Although daily figures still show a trend of thousands of passengers, this volume is observed to be much lower compared to the peak period. The peak of the outbound flow at Purabaya Terminal occurred on 19 March 2026 with 60,284 passengers and 2,489 bus fleets. Meanwhile, the peak of the return flow on 25 March 2025 had 55,874 passengers with 2,392 bus fleets.
Purabaya Terminal management will continue strict monitoring until the end of this weekend. Considering the potential for a subsequent surge in passengers as the joint leave period ends.
βThe peak of the second wave return flow is estimated to occur on Sunday, 29 March, due to civil servants and school students starting to return on 30 March 2026,β said Purabaya Terminal Public Relations Debby Tri Indah on Friday (27/3).
On Friday (27/3), the return flow is estimated at 10,566 passengers with 89 flights to various destinations.
The government, together with Jasa Marga, urges travellers to schedule their return journeys to avoid congestion during the peak return flow of the 2026 Eid al-Fitr holiday, and to take advantage of the 30% toll discount.
The peak return flow of the 2026 Eid al-Fitr at Harjamukti Terminal in Cirebon occurred today (25/3). The number of passengers to Jakarta rose 15%.
The peak return flow of the 2026 Eid al-Fitr is predicted for 28-29 March. The government urges the public to avoid those dates and utilise the 30% toll discount.
The government claims the 2026 Eid al-Fitr return flow is smooth after direct inspection at Pulo Gebang. The second wave is predicted for 28-29 March, with preparations in place.
In Merak, arrangements are made through Rest Area KM 43, KM 68, and the South Lingkar Road (JLS).
The Japek 2 south functional lane, used since 19 March for the Eid return flow, will remain operational until Sunday, 29 March 2026.
This prediction is supported by traffic counting data from Karawang Police Resort, which indicates that around 200,000 return vehicles have yet to return to the Jabodetabek area.
