Passenger Charged IDR 200,000 for Motorbike Taxi Ride at GBK Despite IDR 20,000 Agreement
Jakarta — Pessyaa, a resident who was charged IDR 200,000 for a motorbike taxi ride in the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) area, Senayan, Central Jakarta, revealed the chronology of the incident on Sunday (1 March 2026).
Initially, Pessyaa and a friend had just finished watching a music concert at GBK’s Madya Stadium. Both exited the venue on foot.
At that time, numerous drivers bearing online motorbike taxi markings were offering rides to passersby.
One driver approached Pessyaa and the friend, immediately offering his services. “At first he came up to me while I was walking ahead, just saying ‘Come on, motorbike taxi, sis’. Initially I didn’t respond,” Pessyaa said when contacted by Kompas.com on Monday (2 March 2026).
Since Pessyaa had intended to take a motorbike taxi due to leg cramps after the concert, she eventually asked the driver about the fare. “How much to the parking lot across from Senayan Park? He answered, ‘Come on, it’s easy, you’re two people right? It’s not much different from the app price,’” she explained, mimicking the conversation with the driver.
The driver disregarded Pessyaa’s attempt to clarify the fare. Instead, he called fellow motorbike taxi drivers wearing similar markings to transport Pessyaa and her friend.
“So he immediately called his friends to take me and my partner. We were also monitored so we’d keep following him to the bikes,” Pessyaa recounted.
“And I didn’t get on right away. I asked, ‘How much is this? If there’s no fixed price, I definitely won’t go,’” she explained.
Pessyaa then confirmed the motorbike taxi fare at IDR 20,000 for two people. The driver agreed to this rate.
“I said, ‘IDR 20,000 for two people. He said, ’Okay, just get on,’” Pessyaa continued.
Once already on the motorcycle and the vehicle began moving, the driver suddenly claimed he was a new driver.
