Paspampres Holds Specialised Training to Protect President from Bombs and Drone Attacks
The Presidential Security Force (Paspampres) conducted a specialised training exercise to hone its personnel’s skills in protecting the president from physical threats, including bombs and weaponised drones. The training, held at the Paspampres Command Headquarters in Central Jakarta on Thursday (23/7), utilised specialised equipment such as Bomb Blankets, Anti-Drone systems, and Ballistic Blankets.
Paspampres Commander Major General TNI Edwin Adrian Sumantha explained that during the Ballistic Blanket exercise, soldiers tested the bullet-resistant equipment’s ability to withstand gunfire to support VVIP security tasks. For the anti-drone training, personnel practised neutralising unmanned aircraft that could potentially attack using explosives or projectiles.
Regarding the Bomb Blanket material, Edwin stated that soldiers trained to use the equipment as a final protective measure for the VVIP, using their own bodies as a living shield to absorb the impact of an explosion. He confirmed that the entire series of exercises proceeded safely and smoothly, adhering to applicable security standards, and assured that such training would be conducted regularly to sharpen the troops’ operational capabilities.
‘This is proof of our strong commitment to carrying out state duties,’ he said.
