Paspampres Deploys Advanced Weaponry and Anti-Drone Systems to Secure 81st Indonesian Independence Day
The Presidential Security Force (Paspampres) is deploying 1,147 personnel along with various primary weapon systems to secure the entire series of events for the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia. The readiness of the troops and equipment was confirmed during a VVIP Security Task Force Readiness Parade led by Paspampres Commander Major General TNI Dr. Edwin Adrian Sumantha at the Paspampres Headquarters field in Central Jakarta on Monday, 10 August 2026. The parade served as a crucial stage to ensure that personnel, materiel, operational vehicles, and security systems are prepared to handle the full range of state agendas for the 81st Independence Day celebrations.
Paspampres personnel will be divided into several Security Task Forces according to the events being secured. A total of 151 personnel are assigned to the Apel Kehormatan dan Renungan Suci (Honour Parade and Sacred Reflection) on 14 August, while 277 personnel will secure the DPR/MPR Session on 15 August. For the main flag-raising and lowering ceremony on 17 August, 294 personnel will be involved. Additionally, 205 personnel are prepared for the People’s Party, 70 personnel for the Paskibraka (Flag Raising Team), and 150 personnel for the Ceremonial Troops.
Security does not rely solely on personnel numbers. Paspampres has also readied various weapon systems, tactical vehicles, and modern equipment to face increasingly complex threat characteristics. The prepared weaponry includes Caracal and Dasan rifles, SS1 V3 Croom rifles, MP7s, and various pistols such as the G2 Combat, HK, Glock 17, Glock 19, Glock 43X, and Sig Sauer. Paspampres has also prepared Pindad SPR 3 and AW sniper rifles. To counter technology-based threats, a Koopsudnas anti-drone vehicle and a Maung Air Defence Artillery vehicle have been placed on standby. Paspampres has also readied a number of tactical vehicles, including a CBRNE (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosive) vehicle, a jammer vehicle, G500 escort vehicles, G500 security vehicles, P2 Komando vehicles, Maung vehicles, and Goldwing escort motorcycles.
The use of these devices is adapted to the evolving nature of threats to VVIP security, which are no longer limited to physical attacks. Threats can emerge through drones, cyber-attacks, the dissemination of information that triggers security disturbances, or actions by individuals and groups that move quickly and are difficult to predict. Because of this, Edwin stressed that VVIP security must prioritise a preventive and proactive approach. Every potential threat must be detected and anticipated before it develops into a real disturbance.
