Paspampres Commander Leads Troop Readiness Roll Call for 81st Indonesian Independence Day Events
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Commander of the Presidential Security Force (Paspampres), Major General TNI Edwin Adrian Sumantha, led a Readiness Parade for the VVIP Security Task Force (Satgaspam) in preparation for the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia in Jakarta, attended by 1,147 personnel.
During the event, the Paspampres Commander directly inspected the readiness of personnel and the main weaponry systems of Paspampres to be used throughout the 81st Indonesian Independence Day series in Jakarta.
“The parade is an important stage to ensure the optimal readiness of all personnel, materiel, as well as VVIP security operational systems and equipment for the series of state events commemorating Indonesia’s Independence Day,” said Major General Edwin in Jakarta on Monday.
Of the more than one thousand Paspampres personnel prepared, 151 of them will be deployed for duty at the Honour Parade and Sacred Reflection (AKRS) on 15 August 2026, followed by 277 personnel for the security of the Annual Session of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR RI) on 14 August 2026, and 294 personnel for the Seconds of the Proclamation Commemoration Ceremony and the Flag Lowering Ceremony on 17 August 2026 from morning until afternoon.
Furthermore, 205 personnel are deployed for the security of the People’s Party event in the National Monument (Monas) area from morning until evening, 70 personnel will be part of the Heritage Flag Hoisting Troop (Paskibraka), and 150 Paspampres personnel are integrated into the ceremonial troop team at Merdeka Palace.
Not only checking personnel readiness, the Paspampres Commander also directly inspected a number of equipment items, including weapons, prepared for securing the 81st Indonesian Independence Day series in Jakarta. The weaponry prepared includes Caracal rifles and Dasan rifles, SS1 V3 Croom, MP7, various pistols such as G2 Combat, HK, Glock 17, Glock 19, Glock 43X, and Sig Sauer, as well as Pindad SPR 3 sniper rifles and AW sniper rifles. There is also one anti-drone vehicle from the National Air Defence Operations Command (Koopsudnas) and one Maung Air Defence Artillery vehicle.
Meanwhile, the tactical vehicles prepared include CBRNE (chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive) threat response vehicles, jammer vehicles, G500 escort vehicles, G500 security vehicles, P2 Komando vehicles, Maung vehicles, and Goldwing escort motorcycles.
The Paspampres Commander explained that the security of VVIPs, which is the duty of Paspampres, must be carried out proactively and preventively by anticipating all forms of potential threats from an early stage. “For Paspampres, success is not only when we succeed in neutralising a threat, but when that threat never has the opportunity to emerge at all. That is the true essence of the VVIP security task,” said Edwin.
In front of more than one thousand Paspampres personnel, Major General Edwin delivered several important messages to his ranks. Edwin emphasised the importance of working with full vigilance, silence, precision, speed, and discipline.
“Our success is often invisible to the public, yet that is precisely where Paspampres professionalism is tested. We work in silence, with full vigilance, precision, speed, discipline, and solid coordination,” said Edwin.
On the same occasion, Edwin also stated that securing the 81st Indonesian Independence Day series is both a task and a noble mandate to safeguard the dignity of the institution, ensure the safety of VVIPs, and uphold the honour of the nation and state.
“Make every step of service an honour for us to safeguard the safety of VVIPs, and to guard and uphold the honour and dignity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia,” said the Paspampres Commander to his ranks.
Finally, Major General Edwin advised all personnel on duty to maintain faith and piety, prepare physical, mental, and technical capabilities, increase vigilance, and carry out their duties professionally, with discipline, firmness, courtesy, and humanity.
