Pasirlangu Residents Relieved After Relocation Plans Are Confirmed
The long-awaited decision on permanent housing for survivors of the landslide in Pasirlangu Village, Cisarua sub-district, West Bandung regency, West Java, has finally been made. Each family will receive Rp60 million to build a new home under an agreed self-managed relocation scheme.
The assistance, provided by Raffi Ahmad, the Presidential Special Envoy for the Development of the Young Generation and Arts Workers, and Rans Entertainment, was symbolically handed over to victims’ representatives by West Bandung Regent Jeje Ritchie Ismail on Thursday (15 October 2026). The affected residents welcomed the aid with gratitude.
“Alhamdulillah, after waiting a long time, we have finally received the assistance. The Rp60 million is for each family,” said Rusmiyati, 42, one of the landslide survivors.
Rusmiyati was grateful that the government had sought to ease the cost of securing a new home after her previous house was buried in the natural disaster. She has chosen a site in a neighbouring village, in an area safe from landslides, for her new home. The landslide occurred early in 2026. She made the choice because her husband still works as a vegetable farmer on land near the landslide site.
“Rp60 million would not be enough to build a house from scratch and finish it. I have to buy land and then build the house. But, Alhamdulillah, it is a great help, and it shows that the government cares about us,” Rusmiyati said, explaining her circumstances.
Until the house is completed, Rusmiyati will continue living in rented accommodation. West Bandung regency government has provided rental assistance as well as basic food supplies to meet her family’s daily needs.
“We’ll stay in rented accommodation for a few more months. The regency government gives us Rp600,000 a month for rent, as well as food supplies,” she said.
West Bandung Regent Jeje Ritchie Ismail said humanitarian assistance for the self-managed relocation of landslide victims in Pasirlangu totalled Rp1.92 billion. The funds were distributed equally among 32 households.
“Today we are handing over assistance to 32 households in Pasirlangu Village. The total is Rp1.92 billion, or Rp60 million per household,” Jeje said.
He praised all those who had provided assistance and support to the victims from the onset of the disaster through the recovery period. This included Raffi Ahmad, the Presidential Special Envoy for the Development of the Young Generation and Arts Workers, and Rans Entertainment.
“This has involved a great deal of collaboration. I am especially grateful to Rans Entertainment and the Special Envoy for providing substantial support to Pasirlangu residents. I thank everyone who has helped and shown concern for them,” Jeje said.
He said he had instructed relevant agencies within the West Bandung regency administration to oversee the agreed self-managed relocation process and ensure it proceeded smoothly. The regency government had also previously provided rental assistance through December this year.
“We hope this will bring blessings to everyone. From the start of the disaster through to recovery, many people have supported the victims—with food supplies, rice and rental assistance—and, after discussions, the residents ultimately chose self-managed relocation,” Jeje said.
