Pasirjaya Bridge in Bogor Collapses After Heavy Rain, BPBD Had Predicted It from the Start

BOGOR — The bridge connecting RW 04 and RW 03 in Pasirjaya Ward, West Bogor, City of Bogor, had actually been instructed to be closed since Sunday night (3/5/2026), before it finally collapsed during heavy rain.

The Head of the Bogor City Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) Executive, Dimas Tiko, stated that his agency had already predicted the potential collapse of the bridge.

This was due to the construction’s condition having been disrupted by erosion from the flow of the Cikaret River.

“So indeed, by the will of God, with the quite high rainfall and the water discharge from the Cikaret River overflowing again, the bridge collapsed,” he continued.

Currently, the Bogor City BPBD is conducting an inventory of residents who may be affected, especially those living along the banks of the Cikaret River.

“Inventory of residents who are adjacent, as you can see, there are houses that have been undercut, we immediately take evacuation steps. We carry out evacuation steps, we find rental houses,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Public Works and Spatial Planning Department (PUPR) of Bogor City, Juniarti Estiningsih, conveyed that repairs to the bridge had actually been planned to start on Tuesday (5/5/2026).

“I already said it would be worked on tomorrow. But nature, we don’t know, we don’t know suddenly (it collapsed), I said it was only going to be worked on tomorrow,” Juniarti explained.

To accelerate handling, his side will pull construction manpower from other projects to focus on repairing the Pasirjaya bridge.

“Because we use maintenance, so we have to pull workers from activities in other areas to be prioritised,” he said.

It is known that the bridge connecting RW 04 and RW 03 collapsed during heavy rain lashing the Bogor area.

As a result, residents now have to take a detour via Aria Surialaga Road to go from RW 04 to RW 03 or vice versa.
