The atmosphere at Pasar Senen Station in Central Jakarta has become packed with homebound travellers ahead of Eid. The crowding at Pasar Senen Station has forced many residents to sit on the floor.

During a monitoring visit by detikcom at Pasar Senen Station on Monday (16 March 2026) at 12.45 WIB, nearly all seats at the station were occupied. This situation forced many residents to eventually sit on the floor.

Pedestrian access within Pasar Senen Station was also impeded. This resulted from the large numbers of travellers queuing to enter the platforms and those waiting in the waiting areas, including those seated on the floor.

Pasar Senen Station was also animated by the constant movement of passengers carrying baggage. Many were seen pulling suitcases and carrying large cardboard boxes.

Porters were also observed carrying passengers’ baggage towards their designated platforms. Meanwhile, other porters were calling out to offer their services.

One homebound traveller at Pasar Senen Station named Ubay said he would travel to his hometown in Lamongan, East Java. He stated that he had obtained free holiday travel that required him to depart that day.

“Because the free holiday travel is today. Actually, we also wanted to travel closer to Eid,” said Ubay.

Although Ubay had wished to travel nearer to Eid, he considered today’s departure still suited his intentions.

“But I think this is fine, sufficient for four days before Eid, so it works out that way and then we just need to arrange the return journey,” he said.
