Pasar Senen Station Begins Filling with Homebound Travellers
Pasar Senen Station emerged as the busiest departure point during the Eid holiday travel period, with operational data showing 23,259 passengers departing, followed by Gambir Station with 17,198 passengers. Across the Jakarta Daop 1 region, 51,584 passengers departed whilst 23,939 arrived on 16 March 2026.
For arrivals, Pasar Senen Station also recorded the highest passenger volume with 9,405 people disembarking. Over the cumulative period from 11–16 March 2026, a total of 271,309 passengers departed from the Jakarta Daop 1 area, whilst 140,081 passengers arrived.
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) documented total seating capacity for long-distance trains during the Eid transport period at 1,076,196 seats. To date, 719,988 tickets have been sold or reserved, leaving approximately 354,574 seats available with a temporary occupancy rate of approximately 67%.
The highest surge in ticket bookings occurred during 11–20 March 2026, with a total of 468,795 tickets sold. The government provided economic stimulus in the form of a 30% train ticket discount for the period 14–29 March 2026, specifically for commercial economy class. Nationally, this programme provided 1.2 million seats, with the Jakarta Daop 1 region allocated 329,000 seats, of which approximately 60,000 remain available.
