PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) has recorded Pasar Senen Station as the busiest long-distance train station in terms of passenger movements between January and May 2026. During this period, the station served 3,155,845 passenger movements, comprising 1,670,428 departures and 1,485,417 arrivals. Vice President Corporate Communication KAI Anne Purba stated that the high mobility at Pasar Senen Station underscores its vital role as an intercity travel hub from Jakarta to various regions across Java. The highest monthly movement was recorded in March 2026. This figure places Pasar Senen ahead of other major stations during the same period, with Gambir serving 2,603,087 passengers, Yogyakarta 2,574,177, Semarang Tawang 1,736,897, and Surabaya Gubeng 1,547,309. Anne Purba explained that Pasar Senen’s strong character stems from serving a broad cross-section of society, including families, workers, students, tourists, and small business owners who rely on trains as their primary mode of transport. KAI ensures orderly passenger flow from arrival through boarding and departure. In addition to long-distance services, the station also serves the Cikarang/Bekasi Commuter Line. Connectivity is further enhanced by Transjakarta bus services at the Senen stop, linking passengers to city centres, residential areas, commercial hubs, and tourist destinations. KAI urges passengers to arrive early, verify schedules via the Access by KAI app, prepare identification, heed announcements, and safeguard their belongings to ensure smooth travel amid the high volume.
