Pasar Rumput Now Has a Cinema, Jaksinema Opens Studio with 43 Seats
Perumda Pasar Jaya is developing a business innovation through the opening of Jaksinema at Pasar Rumput. The presence of Jaksinema is part of efforts to develop the potential of the market area while providing entertainment space for the public.
Located in Tower 3 of Pasar Rumput, with one studio and a capacity of 43 seats, Jaksinema was developed through a partnership between Perumda Pasar Jaya and Layar Digi as the film provider. This collaboration is expected to deliver a quality viewing experience and provide an entertainment alternative for residents in the Pasar Rumput area and its surroundings.
The inauguration was marked symbolically by a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Deputy Governor of Jakarta, Rano Karno; the board of directors of Perumda Pasar Jaya; Layar Digi management; and relevant officials.
The moment served as a form of support for the development of market areas that not only function as centres of trading activity but can also evolve into public spaces with various facilities and activities that add value for the community.
President Director of Perumda Pasar Jaya, Agus Himawan, said that the opening of Jaksinema is one of the company’s steps in optimising assets and market areas through innovative business development.
“The presence of Jaksinema at Pasar Rumput is part of Perumda Pasar Jaya’s commitment to continue innovating and developing the potential of market areas. We want markets to be not only places where people transact, but also areas with various activities and facilities that can provide new experiences for the public,” Agus said in his statement on Monday (24/8/2026).
Furthermore, the partnership with Layar Digi is a strategic step in creating an entertainment ecosystem in the Pasar Rumput area. With support for film provision and cinema management, Jaksinema is expected to become one of the public’s entertainment options while strengthening the appeal of the Pasar Rumput area and realising Jakarta’s vision as a city of cinema.
The presence of Jaksinema is also expected to have a positive impact on economic activity in the surrounding area, as well as being one of the efforts to make Jakarta a Global City.
