The Jakarta Provincial Government has disclosed that the road construction project parallel to the Pasar Minggu railway tracks in East Pejaten Ward, Pasar Minggu District, South Jakarta, has been halted because land acquisition is not yet complete. Consequently, physical construction cannot proceed.

Head of the Public Works Department, Heru Suwondo, stated that land acquisition for the project has been underway since last year, following the location determination in 2024. However, of the 118 land plots that need to be acquired, only about half have been freed up by the end of 2025.

“Indeed, with the National Land Agency (BPN), up to the end of last year, we were still communicating with BPN, and finally, around 48 percent could be acquired,” he said during a working meeting with Commission D of the Jakarta Provincial DPRD on Thursday (23/4/2026).

Based on data from the Public Works Department, out of a total of 118 land plots, 59 plots have been acquired by 2025. Meanwhile, the remaining 59 plots are still in process. Among these, eight plots are government assets.

Heru explained that the land acquisition process is ongoing at the South Jakarta Administrative City Land Office. The remaining land is planned to be acquired this year. “The rest of the acquisition will continue this year. So, it’s currently being processed at BPN to continue the acquisition in Kemuning. So, for the through road,” he said.

Heru hopes that the land acquisition process can be completed by mid-year. If the land acquisition can be finished by mid-year, the Public Works Department can immediately start physical road construction. “Hopefully, if it’s free by mid-year, we can start the physical work right away,” said Heru.

He added that if the land acquisition is delayed again, physical construction will likely be postponed once more. However, he hopes the acquisition can be completed this year.

“If the acquisition is delayed again, it might only be done this year, and the physical work next year. But we hope the acquisition can be carried out by mid-year, and payment can already be made because the funds are still available for Pasar Minggu,” Heru stated.

Previously, the Head of East Pejaten Ward, Supriyanto, said there has been almost no rejection from residents regarding the land acquisition. According to him, the obstacle to the road construction project parallel to the Pasar Minggu railway tracks is the budget.

“There is almost no rejection from residents; it was indeed hindered earlier due to the COVID-19 pandemic and limited budget at the Public Works Department, so it was carried out in stages,” he said.

He added that residents hope the land acquisition payment process can be carried out soon. This is because affected residents also need certainty about their future. Considering that some residents’ houses are currently used as business premises.

“Residents hope that payments can be made so they have certainty and can get back decent and healthy housing as well as business locations, because some are currently used for trading businesses. Even though it’s a bit far from the original location in East Pejaten,” he said.
