Pasar Minggu Road Project Hindered by Budget Constraints
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The road construction project parallel to the railway tracks in the Pasar Minggu area, South Jakarta, has not faced significant opposition from residents, but the project is said to be hindered by budget limitations. “Regarding opposition from residents, there is almost none. It was indeed delayed due to the pandemic and limited budget at the Road Infrastructure Agency, so its implementation is phased,” said East Pejaten Ward Head Supriyanto when confirmed in Jakarta on Friday. He stated that most residents support the project, although the process was hampered since the COVID-19 pandemic period. Affected residents, he said, hope that the land acquisition process will be completed soon so they can obtain certainty for their housing and businesses. “Residents hope that payments can be made soon so there is certainty and they can get decent homes and business locations, even if perhaps a bit far from the original site,” Supriyanto said. As is known, based on the Governor of DKI Jakarta Decree Number 493 of 2024, the location for the Pasar Minggu parallel railway access road construction covers an area of approximately 14,220 square metres in East Pejaten Ward. The road construction is planned to resume after the land acquisition process is completed. Currently, the land acquisition stage is still ongoing at the South Jakarta Administrative City Land Office as the Chair of the Land Acquisition Implementation Team. Until 2025, out of a total of 118 land parcels, 59 parcels have been acquired, while the other 59 parcels are still in the acquisition process. Among that number, there are eight land parcels that are government assets. The DKI Road Infrastructure Agency also hopes for community support so that the road construction process can run smoothly for the common interest. The 2-kilometre through road project began to be worked on during the era of Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama alias Ahok (2014-2017). The project, which has been planned since 2014, aims to reduce congestion in the Pasar Minggu area, but has not yet been fully realised to date.
